The Physics laboratory is a vital section at the Materials Testing and Research Division. It deals with testing of construction products by either used of destructive methods or non-destructive methods. The laboratory specializes in the test of both metallic and non-metallic materials.
The following is the list of services that are offered by the Physics Laboratory:
- Radioactive waste management.
- Instrumentation
- Destructive testing of products.
- Non-destructive testing of products.
Destructive testing as the term suggests involves intrusive test methods that involve the need to compromise the current structural state of the sample specimen so by bending, compression, breaking or chemical dissolving of the specimen so as to be able to determine the structural strength of the material. The following is the list of material the laboratory tests through this method include but not limited to;- metal, paper, rubber, leather, plastics, textiles and timber, sexporno filmyporno69
Nondestructive testing (NDT), nondestructive examination (NDE) and nondestructive inspection (NDI), are an analysis techniques used in the physics laboratory to determine the properties of a sample’s material, component or system without causing damage.
Nondestructive Testing (NDT) does not destroy or permanently alter the sample being inspected; it is a highly favorable and highly valuable technique that can save both money and time in product evaluation, troubleshooting, and
The laboratory also offers Radioactive Waste Management services that are very critical in the Environmental waste management program in the country.
The laboratory does this by temporary immobilization of low-level radioactive waste from Hospitals, Industries and Research institution. The laboratory offers temporary storage of the radioactive waste material. Finally the laboratory also offers Repairing, Servicing and Calibration of instruments.
